Munich: The Prince’s Theatre

Stage technology and Architecture

The audience as the whole theatre is a listed monument and was reconstructed accordingly. The boxes of the princes were rebuilt after historic documents.
For the new use of the building as a theatre academy, the new configuration of spaces was conceived in a way that combines the lecture and studying activities with the operation of the theatre.
In the sector of the portal and stage, architecture and stage technology are much interwoven.

The portal zone was reconstructed completely in its architecture and technology to fulfil aesthetic and functional requirements.

The orchestra pit was extended in direction of the audience, because a later use as baroque orchestra pit was planned.

New installations for the light and sound technology could be installed in the ceiling of the audience. Accordingly, openings were provided in the historical ceiling.

Renovation of the stage machinery

The trusses, the grid and the working galleries were renovated to correspond the new concept of use.

The existing counterweight flies were repaired.

The flying system was completed with 15 new mechanised flies.

In case of demand, 60 point hoists can be installed.
