The Project: Renovation and New Perspectives

The function and running principles of the theatre changed with the years. The scenery became more and more sophisticated, and the requirements of the touring companies gradually increased. Furthermore, the operating of the theatre became more and more difficult because of safety related, structural and technical defaults – mainly due to the age of the building.

At the renovation, the actual requirements in regard to fire protection, the prevention of accidents and the valid safety regulations had to be fulfilled by integrating the respective measures in an efficient and careful way into the existing building, particularly in the public parts.

The taking out of the asbestos was especially complicated. The planning and execution of the works had to be integrated into the running project.

The whole building was re-arranged and equipped with highly modern facilities and technical installation. It will satisfy European requirements in regard to stage technology and facility management for a long time in the future.
